Our Core Service for Horses

Our mobile horse vet consults cover a comprehensive range of services, designed to address both routine health needs and unexpected issues. Dr. Tom provides a wide array of services for horses, including:

01

General Health Examinations

Just like us, horses benefit from regular check-ups. We provide thorough physical examinations, including assessing vital signs, listening to heart and lungs, and evaluating overall condition. This helps in early detection of potential problems, allowing for timely intervention.

02

Vaccinations

Protecting your horse from potentially life-threatening diseases is crucial to protect them and yourself. We offer tailored vaccination programs, considering your horse’s age, lifestyle, and risk factors. Vaccinations include Tetanus, Strangles and Hendra virus vaccines.

03

Parasite Prevention

Internal and external parasites can significantly impact your horse’s health and performance. We provide advice on effective parasite control strategies, including fecal egg counts and appropriate medications.

04

Dental Care

Proper dental health is essential for your horse’s ability to eat, perform, and thrive. We offer dental examinations, floating and simple dental extractions to ensure your horse’s teeth are in optimal condition.

05

Lameness Exams

Lameness can be a significant issue for horses, affecting their mobility and well-being. We conduct thorough lameness evaluations to identify the source of the problem and develop an appropriate treatment plan.

06

Colic Management

Colic is a common and potentially life-threatening condition in horses. We offer prompt and thorough examinations to diagnose the cause of the colic and provide appropriate treatment, which may include medication, fluids, or referral for surgery if necessary.

07

Dermatology

Skin conditions can cause significant discomfort and irritation for horses. We diagnose and treat a variety of dermatological issues, including Queensland itch, allergies, infections, and parasites.

08

Nutritional Advice

Proper nutrition is the foundation of your horse’s health. We provide tailored dietary advice, considering your horse’s age, breed, activity level, and any specific health needs.

09

Ophthalmology

Eye problems can be serious and require prompt attention. We offer examinations and treatment for various eye conditions, ensuring your horse’s vision and comfort.

10

Geriatric Horse Care

As horses age, their needs change. We provide health care programs for senior horses, focusing on maintaining their comfort, quality of life, and addressing age-related health issues.

11

Diagnostics

We are equipped to perform a range of diagnostic procedures on-site, including blood testing, cytology, histopathology, swabs, faecal flotation and urinalysis.

12

Soft Tissue Surgery

Dr Tom is experienced at performing many surgical procedures in the field, including castrations, lump removals, biopsies and wound management

Dr Tom visits horse properties across the Central Coast, including Yarramalong, Dooralong, Jilliby, Somersby, Kulnura, Mangrove Mountain and Peats Ridge, as well as the semi-rural pockets around Matcham and Holgate. See every area we cover.
